About the Artist

EXPRESSING THE JOY OF COLOR

Nancy Hall first found her love of art when she received a gift of oil paints at the age of seventeen. Escaping into her own world, Nancy painted for six hours straight before she looked up and saw her very first creation, a painting that would later win an award at her Cincinnati High School Scholastic Art Contest. Georgia O'Keefe's works played a very inspirational role in her early artistic development. picture of a Nancy Hall After attending the University of Cincinnati's Design, Art and Architecture program, Nancy began her career in fashion design and merchandising in boutique stores and was later the owner and designer of her own stationary company, producing a line of colorful and whimsical note cards.

Largely a self-taught artist, Nancy spends a great deal of her time creating colorful and expressionist paintings with watercolor inks on Arches paper. Her abstract compositions evoke images of flower, butterflies, birds, tropical fish and jungle foliage. She also enjoys painting impressionistic arrangements of flowers.

Nancy's artwork has been selected for numerous regional art festivals, including the Art on the Avenue Festival (Longboat Key, Florida), the Palm Beach Gardens Art Fair (Palm Beach, Florida) and juried exhibitions at the Art Center Sarasota (Sarasota, Florida), Longboat Key Center for the Arts (Longboat Key, Florida) and the Venice Art Center (Venice, Florida).

Nancy has recently been honored with a first place award by the Marco Island Art League.

She rejuvenates her creativity by designing seasonal decorations for the Fine Art Society (Sarasota, Florida) and through travel to locales such as Europe and the Caribbean. She derives inspiration from current design trends, brilliantly hued flowers and the breathtaking sunsets over the waters of the Floridian Gulf. Nancy hones her artistic techniques by studying periodically with noted artists and instructors, Maxine Masterfield and Pat Dews.
